The coffee tree flower life is short. Today it has blossomed, and in two days it will begin to turn yellow and wither, its existence will no longer make sense. The aroma of the fresh blossoming coffee tree flower is intense and sweet, like jasmine. It attracts bees or hummingbirds; they pollinate the tree.
But nature allows only two days for that. After two days, the flower withers, and no longer attracts anyone.
When the flower has just bloomed, it can be plucked, dried, and brewed into a fragrant tea. But if you pick a fresh, perfectly smelling flower, then there will be no berries in its place. And if you wait until fertilization occurs, after which the flower will wither, then the tea will be tasteless.
So you have to choose between tea and coffee!
After a week, tiny green berries appear instead of withered flowers.
The coffee tree blooms and bears fruit at the same time.
This inspired me to create the work. I wanted to convey exactly this moment - the flowering and grains ripening. To show fragrant flowers and fruits together. Moreover, in two days the flowers will wither, and a new story will begin, the story of coffee ripening!
This artwork is an example of botanical painting.
